Mini/Junior Section - Safeguarding Policy

At Hull Ionians RUFC we believe that taking part in our sport should be a positive and enjoyable part of our players’ lives. We endeavour to make sure that children and vulnerable adults are protected and are kept safe from neglect, physical, sexual and emotional harm whilst they are with the club’s coaches, helpers, volunteers, parents, officers and staff.

Hull Ionians RUFC has embraced this ethos and agrees to abide by its own policy and the guidelines set out by the Rugby Football Union. Hull Ionians will continue to update and improve procedures to ensure maximum safety and avoid abuse should that be physical, mental or emotional.

The Club’s Safeguarding Policy will be delivered by ensuring that:

1.                 A Club Safeguarding Officer is appointed whose role it is to deal with any concerns about neglect, physical, sexual or emotional abuse.

2.                 All coaches and volunteers who have regular contact with children and vulnerable adults will have Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.

3.                 All coaches will be qualified to at least a Start Rugby Coaching course.

4.                 All coaches and volunteers will be made aware of child protection issues, and other relevant safeguarding procedures.

5.                 All coaches and volunteers will be given copies of the clubs Safeguarding Policy, coaches’ code of conduct and other relevant policies and procedures.

6.                 Relevant details of all players will be maintained along with their parental consent form and an incident/injury log

7.                 Communication with parents/guardians will be maintained through various means, including meetings, e-mail, notice board and web-site.

8.                 There is a formal Reporting Procedure for dealing with accusations or suspicions of abuse of children or vulnerable adults.
